This is Book Four in the Ugly Eternity series. This is not meant to be read as a stand alone.This will forever go down as one of my favorite book series!
I was taken by surprise with this one. But it was definitely a pleasant surprise. It seems we have established the couples at this point. A couple twists I didn't see coming but like I said, it was a pleasant surprise.
A few things I really liked about this one:
- Hawke & Jamie still going strong
- Hawke's mom - damn I love that lady!
- Another amazing dinner party - Jeez that scene might have been better than the one in Book Two!
- The texts
- Seeing Joss open up and reveal the real him. I really fell for him in this book.
- Maddox being redeemed
Favorite line of the book: "My soul wants you. From the moment we met all those years ago, it has never stopped needing to be with you."
Well damn...that was just perfect!
And the ending....yeah that was just perfect too!

Like coming into the middle of a symphony, this doesn't stand on it's own without a lot of catch up. Enjoyed the characters and romance. Epic fantasy works in trilogies, romance not so much.
Even though it's part of a series, it reads like a stand alone. Inliked the theme of 2 stories in one, and found it an easy read. Will definitely try to read the other books in the series.
I have thought that I everything "under control", believing we had all the facts. All the while I actually just saw what the writer wanted the reader to see.
Maddox is definitely no angel, but he is obviously not the devil either. His behaviour seems now rather more capricious (as not thought through) than malicious. Playing right into the hands of the manipulator of this group.
The manipulation has been done out of love, and even if the result actually is desirable, it was not right to meddle in anyway. But on the other hand, there would not be a story to tell if that was not done, would it?
Joss may have wanted Sophie, for reasons explained in this book (Of course! will some say when they read about them), but his heart craves someone else. And I hope he remains true to his heart, this time.
And darling Benton will gain himself not only a lover, but a fierce defender. I laughed well picturing the scene in my head. I hope a HEA for them.
Then there was the hilarious idea of a new "hobby" Hawke's parents acquired. It was obviously the book his mother mentioned in the previous story that sparked the idea.
And Hawke and Jamie are still going strong, with few tattoos added to it.
I wonder what Ms Parkerson has in store for us in her next story. I am looking forward to that.
Watching Maddox suffer at the beginning was heart wrenching. Especially after the real story and the lies were revealed. I'm glad that Maddox did get his happily ever after with Joss. The Sophie and Brenton story was cute.
I'm not so much into the man on man thing but the main characters are a man and a woman. This story includes happy endings for several couples and I really enjoy happy endings. It is still hot when people are pleasuring each other even if it is man on man for some of the sex. I do recommend this book if you have an open mind and enjoy reading stories with passion and love.
Ms. Parkerson has a knack for writing complex characters that many M/M stories lack. I felt like I knew these characters, and really want to go back and read the rest of this series, although that's just for me. They are stand-alone stories, and not necessary to read in order, although feel free to watch me go in and get the rest of the Ugly Eternity books. I want more of this story.
This series is amazing.....This story wraps around the stories of Benton and Sophie. For some reason, I thought he (Benton) was gay. Then there is the great coming together, finally of Joss and Maddox. Those two are just hot personified. I thought these characters in this series were wonderful and I personally fell in love with all of them. Even Hawke and Sophie's parents by the end of Heart's Strum, I found them hilarious. I thought this was a terrific affordable series that all the stories in the series had a happily ever after. That's what I'm always looking for in the books I read. So looking forward to Heart's Chord, which is I believe a bonus read of Finn's story. Looks interesting. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS AFFORDABLE SERIES!!
